Visual Communication

Reflecting on the last year, and career experience, I’m going to be spending more time drawing in 2023.

In fact, that would be my single piece of advice to any engineer once the initial programming hurdle is cleared: learn to draw. More specifically, learn to communicate with pictures and simple graphics.

I know the conventional wisdom states “learn to write,” which is fine, but not sufficient, because people don’t - won’t - read. The writing is for you. The cartoons are for everyone else, especially upstream.

Update 2024-01-25: Ironically, I did less drawing in 2023 than I did in 2022.
